My Beaver Mitts Have Arrived

I just went down to the Post Office to pick-up my beaver mitts that I had made for my races. It is very important that I keep all of my fingers!
Only 24 more days until I am up in Wasilla/Knik. I am just now getting over a horrible cough. I am looking forward to returning to training. I need to work on strengthening every muscle that I can before the race.

Just the Beginning . . .

Well, the countdown is on, only 27 more days until I am up in Wasilla running with the big dogs! Reality still has not set in. In just over a month I will be on the back of a sled being pulled 200 miles across snow-covered tundra and ice by 12 wonderful athletes. Am I bit freaked out? The answer would have to be YES! This is a dream that I have had since 2001, the year that I handled for musher DeeDee Jonrowe. The mushing bug bit me hard that year and, ever since, I have not been able to shake it. This is why I am preparing to run my first sled dog race -
